In-Town Atlanta Neighborhood, Midtown
Midtown Atlanta is the most densely populated and bustling part of Atlanta. It is on the Northern edge of the city center; just south of Buckhead. Prior to this decade, Buckhead was considered the main nighlife center of Atlanta. However, the wealthy residents of the Buckhead area fought to change the rules on how late bars could remain open, etc. and subsequently drove much of the nightlife out of the area. Midtown stepped up to the plate with a new trendy destination of night clubs, bars, and restaurants.
Midtown Atlanta is also home to the largest city park, Piedmont Park. Homes within walking distance of Piedmont Park sell at a huge premium. Midtown Atlanta is also packed full of cultural arts including the Fox Theater, the High Museum of Art, The Woodruff Arts Center, 14th Street Playhouse and much more. Areas just to the West side of Midtown proper have begun to be revitalized into what some are now calling Midtown West. This area includes a giant mixed use complex called Atlantic Station that is a mixed use complex built to resemble a city within a city. The streetscape is designed to look like a cityscape of its own and the underneath parking deck is accessed via staircases that visually resemble subway stations of NY or Chicago. The site of Atlantic Station was at one time a brown field. If you want to be close to everything and have a large budget to spend on housing then you will be likely to want to call Midtown your home.
Midtown Atlanta offers some of the most beautiful neighborhoods the city has to offer. What is surprising is that even though Midtown is so built up with skyscrapers and high end luxury urban condominium buildings, it is almost surreal that you can turn down a side street and see a tree lined suburban feeling neighborhood with winding streets, large individual yards yet see a 50 story glass high rise literally in the very near backdrop behind the quiet suburban feeling neighborhood.
