In-Town Atlanta Neighborhood, Avondale Estates
Avondale Estates is just a short drive from downtown Atlanta and downtown Decatur. This neighborhood is architecturally very different from much of the rest of the in-town Atlanta neighborhoods. Most of the homes are an English tudor style because the founder, George Francis Willis took a trip to England and decided to create a planned city with tudor-revival style to it similar to the look of the town in which William Shakespeare was born in England. Today, Avondale Estates is on the National Registrar of Historic Places. Home shoppers either love or hate the uniqueness of this section of Atlanta. If you like the tudor style architecture and a quaint village feel that is very close to downtown Atlanta, you may want to explore the Avondale area.
