Roswell

Roswell, GA has no affiliation or direct connection with Roswell, New Mexico; which is known for its above average number of UFO sightings. However, the historic nature of the area does lend itself to several ghost stories and they do offer ghost tours of the historic sections of Roswell.

Roswell, GA is named after Roswell King, a businessman who built and operated the largest cotton mill in north Georgia during the 1830’s. Today, it is a quaint town preserved to look much the way it did in the 1830’s. A main street that runs through the historic city center, Canton Street is loaded with boutique shops and art galleries and offers some of the best non chain restaurant dining available without venturing into Atlanta. Homes in this area range from charming historic homes to newly constructed subdivision homes.

Throughout the years, Roswell has received a great deal of recognition in the press including being a contender on CNN’s list of Top 100 Places to Live in the US in 2005. Frommer’s book, Top Three Cities in the Nation to Raise Your Family listed Roswell as #3. Also, in 2006, City Crime Rankings, an annual reference book of crime statistics and rankings featured Roswell as the 18th safest city in the country.
