Acworth
Acworth is located about 30 miles northwest of Atlanta and convenient to I75. Many choose to live in Acworth because it’s close enough to Atlanta to commute to work or to take advantage of the more cultural experience that a large city provides while maintaining a small-town atmosphere. Acworth is surrounded by two lakes (Lake Acworth and Lake Allatoona) the larger of which is definitely Lake Allatoona. Motorized boats are allowed on Lake Allatoona and very popular. There are some “beach” areas for swimming; but don’t expect much of a beach and the relatively polluted water is not exactly inviting to swim in though it can still create a nice view. Golfers will find plenty of golf opportunities and even homes on golf courses. In fact the local Cobblestone golf course was recently rated the #1 public course in Georgia by Golf Digest. Acworth’s historic downtown district has just been restored and renovated and offers a quaint and very historic downtown district to shop and dine in. The neighboring town of Kennesaw also offers virtually endless modern shops and chain restaurants which is where one of several large shopping malls of Metro Atlanta, Town Center Mall is located. Like many cities in the Metro Atlanta area, Acworth is rich in history. Acworth was incorporated in 1840 as a typical railroad town. Residents of Acworth will find an abundance of homes that range from starter homes below $100K to high end golf and lake homes that would be valued in the millions. Overall, there are a lot of relatively newer construction swim tennis community subdivision homes that are priced for middle class families to enjoy a great lifestyle while living within a reasonable budget.
