If you're interested in becoming a real estate agent, this page will answer some
frequently asked questions that will help you get started:
What is the difference between a Realtor© and a Real Estate Agent?
Realtor© is a registered trademark of the National Board of Realtors. Only agents who are members of
the National Board of Realtors are able to call themselves Realtors©. Becoming a Realtor© requires adhering
to a stricter guideline of ethics and additional training. If the brokerage that you affiliate with is
a member, then all agents in that office must become members. All Realtors© are also real estate agents; but NOT
all Real Estate Agents are Realtors©.
How can I get a Georgia real estate license?
The first step to getting a license is to register for a 75 hour pre license
course. There are a number of places that offer this course and you have a choice
of day classes, night classes, or even computer based self-paced training. Once you complete
the course, you will need to pass a school final exam and a state exam before
being granted a license. Beware: the computer based course is VERY tedious and I believe it
actually takes more than 75 hours to complete it because the software controls how fast you can
go through the material. So, if you must take the computer based course because of other restrictions which
prevent you from attending a class, you can do so; but if you can attend an instructor led class that is the
best and fastest way to complete it. Here are some schools that offer the course:
